![]() I am unsure of what you did to attempt what you refer to as a factory reset. If it was not you who upgraded it to 10, then of course you do not known how the upgrade was done and it is possible indeed that the original recovery partition is no longer on the drive. This also WILL NOT work on Virtual Machine software (Unless modified to work on VMs). Power on the Compaq computer and hit F12 or Fn+F12 as. Check your Compaq model first, this will only work on the models specify. When the system was upgraded to 10 then depending on how this was done - that attempted recovery is going back to 7 - if it did work. After successfully created the password recovery disk, plug it into your Compaq laptop/desktop. On a laptop with 7 installed there was frequently a partition of the drive - the recovery partition with all that was on the laptop when originally commissioned by HP ![]() As the laptop originally had 7 installed then a factory reset is going back to 7. ![]()
